Why Small Groups?

 1.  God placed a premium on community throughout the Bible

  • Genesis 1:26 - Community is modeled in the Godhead.
  • Genesis 2:18 - God said it's not good for man to be alone.
  • Exodus 18 - Community helps meet individual needs.
  • Psalm 133 - It brings God's blessing when we're doing life together.
  • John 17 - Jesus gives the model of community to His disciples.
  • Acts 2 - The church was formed in community homes.
  • Ephesians 4 - The Body functions correctly when we're all connected.
  • 1 Peter 5 - It's God's design to help lead His people.

2.  We believe community is where life change best takes place  and is reinforced.

  • In many cases today, the only time people have any relationship with God is during 1 hour on Sundays where they listen to the speaker talk about Him and see all the other Christians. That's a good way to find people full of knowledge with God.
  • The beauty of being in community by participating in a small group is that people share and have to work out what it means to prioritize God in their lives.
  • There's great power in community because ministry and application is coming from peers, not just from Pastors and staff.
  • Ministry comes alive when your neighbors, co-workers, etc. are the ones sharing how God is real in their lives.
